🌍 Global Deployments

Global Deployments

Lucent has deployed 8 water filters internationally—4 in India through partnership with Daffodils Ladies Hostel serving 180 residents, and 4 shipped to Nigeria on October 30, 2025 through partnership with Africa Safe Water Foundation expected to serve 370 residents. Combined capacity: ~602k liters annually.

* Drinking water only: 3L/person/day × 365 days (WHO standard). Total water needs: 7.5-15L/day per person.

Note: Actual filtration throughput varies by cartridge capacity (10,000-40,000L) and contaminant load.

How we calculated this:• Daffodils: 180 residents × 3L/day × 365 = 197,100 L/year (~197kL)• Africa Safe Water Foundation (Nigeria): 370 residents × 3L/day × 365 = 405,150 L/year (~405kL, shipped 10/30/25)• Total: ~602k L/year drinking water capacity across 550 residents

Multi-Stage Filtration

The Lucent Solution

Science-backed multi-stage filtration combining regenerable ion-exchange resin, UV-C disinfection, and durable stainless steel body—engineered for comprehensive well water treatment.

TL;DR

Anion-exchange resins selectively capture nitrate (NO₃⁻) and acidic PFAS (PFOA/PFOS). Media is regenerable with brine, cutting waste and cost.

Why It Matters
  • Ion exchange is a proven method for nitrate removal in wells
  • Strong-base resins achieve 90-99% PFAS removal, often outperforming carbon
  • Regenerable design allows multiple reuse cycles (3-5 years typical service life)
Key Facts
  • Nitrate-selective resins typically remove >90% of nitrates until breakthroughWQA
  • Anion exchange achieves up to 99% uptake of PFOA/PFOS in treated waterLenntech
  • Resin 'blend' can be customized for local contaminants (arsenate, uranium variants)
Lucent's Approach

Specialty anion-exchange resin blend targets nitrates, sulfates, PFAS (PFOA/PFOS), and even some heavy metals. Regenerable with brine like home softeners, reducing ongoing cost and waste.

Proof & Sources
  • Ion-exchange proven for nitrate removal in residential wells
  • Anion resins achieve 90-99% PFAS removal efficiency
  • Regenerable design extends filter lifespan
How It Works
Ion-exchange mechanism diagram

Functional Groups

Resin beads contain quaternary ammonium groups (R₄N⁺) that create strong electrostatic attractions with anionic PFAS head groups.

Adsorption Process

PFAS molecules removed through ion-exchange and hydrophobic interactions. Perfluorinated tail interacts with polymer matrix.

Selectivity

High selectivity for long-chain PFAS (C6-C14) including PFOA, PFOS, and emerging compounds like GenX, with minimal interference.

Why Lucent Stands Out

Lucent is the only solution that addresses nitrates, PFAS, and microbes in a single device, with no reject water and regenerable media for long-term sustainability.
